Applied Sport Psychology:
Practical Guidelines from Behavior Analysis, Third Edition (2007)
by Garry Martin
This book describes how behaviour
analysis principles and techniques can be applied to enhance the
performance and enjoyment of athletes and others associated with
sports. It deals with both the principles and the tactics of behavioural
sport psychology consulting- what it is and how to do it. This
edition includes new applications at the beginning of Chapters
2 - 13; an integration in one chapter of stratgies for improving
confidence, concentration, and peak performance of athletes; considerable
revision of other chapters, and many new references. Like the
first two editions, the book contains many illustrations of sport-specific
questionaires, behavioural checklists, self-monitoring forms,
and practical interventions that have been used successfully to
help athletes get more out of practices and maximize their competitive
performance. The emphasis throughout is on practical techniques
that work.
